My first day started out well because my bus stop is in front of my house! It came at 6:49 and I was really excited (actually more nervous then excited). I climbed the stairs of the bus, anxious to start my first day of high school. The ride there was quick and we arrived at school around 6:55. It is comforting to know that my locker is at the very end of D hall. I can just put my lunch and my belongings into my locker, and the school day has officially started! I thought my day was going great, that is, until I got hungry.
Second hour is art. When I reached room G16, I remembered that I had only eaten half a blueberry pop tart for breakfast. I immediately regretted this. I should have listened to my mom when she told me that I should eat a better breakfast. I was incredibly hungry. While attendance was being taken, the room was super quiet. “Grrrrrrr!” My stomach was growling and it was loud! I looked around hoping no one heard. Luckily, only my friends were giggling at the sound of my rumbling tummy! Embarrassed, I silently hoped it would stop. Unfortunately, it kept making noise!
During third hour, my stomach was overly obnoxious. Then I remembered I had some gum in my purse. I eagerly unwrapped a piece and popped it in my mouth. Much better, I thought and I somehow made it to fourth hour. I couldn't wait until lunch. When the bell for B lunch rang, Olivia and I ran to my locker, grabbed my lunch and quickly walked to the north cafeteria. Oh my goodness, I hadn't realized the hallways at lunch time are as crowded as Parisians 80% off sale! There were people everywhere!
When I made it to the cafeteria, I didn't recognize any of the people as my friends. Hmmm, I thought as my eyes darted around the overly crowded lunch room. I wondered, who should I sit by? Luckily I saw my friend Kelsey, who is a junior. Olivia and I decided to sit with Kelsey and her friends. We ended up having a great time! We talked about our day and gossiped about our teachers. It was a blast! By the time lunch was over I had a lot of laughs, and the best part, my stomach was no longer growling!
As I rode the bus home, I thought of my first day. Apart from being really hungry, and a few other challenges, I think the day was a success! Tomorrow, I thought, I will definitely eat a full breakfast. Laughing to myself, I walked off the bus that had driven me to school just 7 hours before. Based on how my first day went, I think I will have a great year at school.

This is really good I like how you have a lot of detail about the time.:)And i really like how you describe the hallway like a Pariaian sale, that's cool figurative language!
ReplyDeleteI really liked the way you described the hallways. Totally true! I cant imagine how it is for the other lunches.
ReplyDeleteI really thought it was clever how you compared the hallways to an 80% off Parisian sale because its so true! :)
